Dew Shoo!!! Dew Not Bug Me Spray

Dew Shoo!!! Dew Not Bug Me Spray is our all natural bug repellent spray. We chose these essential oils to add in this spray that have shown to repel mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

Ingredients: Aloe juice, Witch Hazel, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol (paraben and formaldehyde free preservative), Black Willow Bark Extract, Tea Tree Oil , Polysorbate 20 (emulsifier), EDTA (preservative enhancer), Citric Acid, Polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), Citronella, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Lemon & Cedarwood Essential Oils

DISCLAIMER: This spray is a natural alternative to DEET store bought sprays. These essential oils have shown to repel insects, but may not work for everyone. Please do not use on children under 1 year of age and never spray near eyes, mouth and nose areas. Always test on a small part of skin before spraying everywhere. If applying during sunlight, please also apply sunscreen as citrus essential oils can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

DIY Natural Vanilla Fragrance

We love DIY projects, which is one of the reasons we love what we Dew here at Live Love Dew.  A lot of people have made their own Vanilla Extract for cooking purposes, and if you haven't check out Pinterest or do a search because it's too easy not to try. However, we decided to make our own Vanilla Bean Fragrance and if you love the smell of vanilla and want to fragrance your home, skin & cleaning products, add a few drops in your oil warmer or add to your favorite Live Love Dew unscented products, here's how to do it on your own.

You'll need "plump" vanilla beans. Have you seen the shriveled up dry ones you find at the store? They are hard to open up and the smell is nothing like the ones that are plumper and more moist.  A  great place to purchase them is at a local health food or natural store or you can also purchase on Amazon or Mountain Rose Herb. We would recommend having at least 5 beans on hand. 

You'll need a carrier oil, you can use almost any carrier oil, but what you'll really want is something with a stable shelf life.  You could use Grapeseed oil but the shelf life isn't long as that of Jojoba oil, we use Jojoba oil in our own, but you can also use Avocado Oil, Apricot Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sunflower Oil just make sure the oil you are using doesn't have a strong odor, you don't want the vanilla to have to compete.

 

You'll also need preferably a glass jar with an air tight top.  You can use a small mason jar if you have one around or you can purchase something at the store for less than $2.  The smaller the better, because the less oil you put in, the more concentrated your vanilla scent will be.

Take your "plump" vanilla bean and score down the middle with a knife.  Then cut into no larger than 2 inch pieces and fill your container.  Pour your oil over the vanilla beans and let sit in a sunny window sill for 4-6 weeks.  Every few days shake them up and as hard as it'll be avoid opening them, be patient (says the most impatient person ever).

After the oil has set, you'll need to strain your vanilla beans (those tiny black specks you'll see all in your oil) from the oil.  It's best to use a few layers of cheesecloth or a coffee filter.  You may need to do this a few times to remove all those "specks". 

Now the best part...you are ready to use your all natural Vanilla Bean Fragrance.  Here are some ways:  Scent your already unscented skincare products, add a little to a tart or oil warmer to scent your home, add to natural cleaning products you make for your home, put a drop or 2 in the cardboard roll of your toilet paper every time someone unrolls you'll get a whiff of fresh sweet vanilla scent, or because it is already diluted with a carrier oil you can also use it as a natural vanilla perfume and use accordingly.  You can also mix with other essential oils such as lavender to make Lavender Vanilla, you can add to Orange Essential Oil to make your own "Dreamsicle" smell, there are so many versatile options with this natural vanilla fragrance and the best part is, you made it and you know what's in it.
